Department of Psychological and Educational Sciences:

   The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences founded in (2007-2008), the first batch has graduated in (2010-2011), the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences seeks to prepare numbers of educational cadres in order to promote the educational reality able to serve the community and give the student the knowledge in the fields of education and psychology. It also offers specialized programs in the fields of psychology. As well as service the university and the Faculty of Education by contributing to various programs and also service community by holding short courses, workshops, psychological, educational and social consulting and contribution in various media. The department also contributes in committees at the faculty, university and community. And contribute to the development of scientific research in and outside the university through the preparation of scientific research in the psychological, educational and social fields and the legalization of psychological and educational tests. In addition to participating in the development of curricula at the Ministry of Education and raising the level of teachers through rehabilitation educationally and scientifically.

Department of Geography:

    Department of Geography is considered as one of the most important departments in the college. It was established in 1987. It graduates many students who have B.A. in geography and who are qualified to teach in intermediate and preparatory schools. The department has also started the M.A. and Ph.D. studies and thus allows students to complete their higher studies in the department. The department is considered as one of the scientific departments which are listed within the scientific departments in the colleges of sciences in most of the universities around the world as in Bristol university. As a result, the department is aiming at (with the other departments of geography in other universities) making the correct and fair decision  for geographers to move their departments to the colleges of sciences like other departments of geography in the world as an appreciation to the efforts of geographers and their vital contributions through their researches which deal with many problems which Iraq suffers from whether they are natural or human.

Department of Arabic Language:

    Department of Arabic Language was established in 1987; and it is one of the pioneering scientific departments which graduate hundreds of teachers every year qualified to teach the Arabic language and its literature and Islamic education in intermediate and preparatory schools. The department has interest in studying Arabic heritage, in showing originality in literature fields and in studying grammar in historical stages. The department awards the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. certificates.

Department of Biology:

    Department of Biology is considered as one of the most important departments in the faculty. It was established in 1987. It graduates many students who have B.A. in science/ biology and who are qualified to teach in intermediate and preparatory schools. The department has also started the M.A. and Ph.D. studies and thus allows students to complete their higher studies in the department. This provides other departments in different faculties with good and qualified teachers who are specialized in the different fields of biology.

Department of Physics:

   The department was established in 1991-1992, and the study started in this department in the academic year 1992-1993. It is concerned with preparing staffs qualified scientifically and educationally to undertake the task of taeching physics. It also cares of doing researches related to industry, environment, watching pollution and taking part in solving society problems. The department awards the B.A. and M.A. certificates.

Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences:

   The Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences was established in 2001-2002 and the department started since its foundation with putting the good scientific bases and taking care of the general health and physical fitness for the sport individual. The department has taken into consideration formulating educational, sport and entertaining programs in accordance with developed teaching syllabus coping with the technological sciences in the field of physical education and serving in the preparation of graduates who are qualified to work in the academic and educational field and in the field of sport, youths and institutions.

Department of History:

    Department of History in the Faculty of Education for Women was established in 2001-2002. The History Department started its academic role with a simple staff which got increased and developed day after day till it got to 19 academic lecturers in 2011-2012 who have M.A. and Ph.D. certificates and are of different scientific grades. With this expansion, M.A.studies started in modern history in 2008-2009. The department has an active role in participating in different scientific activities on the university  and society levels. The department contains a scientific library to provide B.A. and M.A. students with references.

Department of Mathematics:

   The department was established in 1989 with a simple  teaching staff which has begun to increase in the number of its students and teachers. In 1990s the department started evening studies, then in 2002, higher studies started in the department. A large number of students have graduated from the department with the B.A. degree since 1994 and till now so as to provide the schools of the governorate and other governorates with mathematics teachers. Since 2004, the department has started graduating M.A. students. The department has interest in researches in the different fields of mathematics.

Department of Computer:

     Department of Computer was established in 2002 to be an active department taking part, like the other departments in the faculty, in supplying the scientific movement of society with what the department presents of young powers in the field of technological technical development. This is done to contribute in providing the ministry of education with teachers of computer which has become necessary in all learning levels. The department has been limited since its establishment to morning studies for girls only, and in 2007 the evening studies was started to include both boys and girls and it still exists till now. The number of graduates is about 2000 students(males and females) since its establishment. The period of study in the department is four years and the graduate is given afterwards a B.A. certificate in computer sciences with the occupational  title programmer assistant.

Department of Chemistry:

  The department was established in 1987 when the faculty was founded, and it is one of the first and pioneering departments in the faculty. It graduates many students who have B.A. in science/ chemistry and who are qualified to teach in secondary schools. The department also started the M.A. studies in 1992-1993.
