The Department of Life Sciences at the  Faculty of Education for Girls at the University of Kufa held a panel discussion on (preservatives and their effects on human public health) by Prof. Dr. (Sahar Mahmoud Jawad).
The workshop aimed to seriously try to spread the societal culture about the negative effects of eating foods containing preservatives and to urge the holding of seminars, workshops and scientific courses that deal with the negative effects of these substances on the various body systems and to explain the types of industrial preservatives, including sodium benzoate, benzoic acid and nitrite. Sodium, sulfur dioxide, and antioxidants that delay the occurrence of chemical changes resulting from the interaction between oxygen, oils, fats, and vitamins, leading to arsenic and severe harm to health. These substances also hinder the oxidation of frozen fruits.
And concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which is to avoid eating foods that contain preservatives as much as possible and to stay away from preservatives that are prohibited for use by the International Food Organization.
